# Retrieval source owner map

Use this map before building retrieval over enterprise content. AI answer quality depends on source ownership as much as embedding, chunking, and ranking. The goal is to make every knowledge source accountable, current, and safe to retrieve.

## Source inventory fields

- Source name, system of record, business owner, technical owner, and support channel.
- Document type, sensitivity, permission rule, retention rule, and approved user populations.
- Refresh cadence, stale-content threshold, last verified date, and escalation path for outdated content.
- Known issues: duplicates, conflicting policy, missing metadata, scanned documents, private comments, or weak authority.
- Retrieval priority: business value, user demand, quality confidence, and readiness for production use.

## Operating routine

Review high-priority sources monthly and low-priority sources quarterly. Remove or quarantine content that no longer has a responsible owner.
